Orchestra One in fine form at concert
Sunday the 7th April saw the culmination of the 5th Orchestra One project in a showcase performance involving more than 40 young people and an audience of over 100 friends and family.
Orchestra One performed alongside both Kent Music and Rhythmix tutors and were directed by Rachel Pantin and Mauricio Venegas-Astorga from the Chilean Music ensemble Quimantu.
A number of participants took the opportunity to develop their music directing skills by leading the whole ensemble and small chamber groups in both rehearsal time as well as during the concert.
Orchestra One have become renowned for their creation of new music and this project was no exception. In previous concerts compositions have been based around the River Medway and the theme of Bridges. This time original compositions were based on traditional Chilean rhythms and used a mix of Chilean and modern Western instruments.
Orchestra One were preceded by a performance from progressive chamber folk group Arlet some of whom are alumni of the KYCO.
Orchestra One would like to thank Golding Vision, Soundhub and The Kent People’s Trust for supporting the project
