Always wanted to teach rap but never knew how? This inspiring and practical session is your chance to learn from the best.

Back by popular demand, Francis Winston—author of Rappin’ the Classroom—returns following his standout sessions at our 2023 and 2024 Schools Conferences. With over 30 years’ experience spanning classical, jazz, hip hop, and commercial music, Francis combines his deep musical knowledge with hands-on teaching expertise to show you how to bring rap into your classroom with confidence and authenticity.

This session is designed for secondary music teachers (KS3/4), but is also perfect for upper KS2 and GCSE-level educators. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just want to take your teaching to the next level, you’ll leave with practical ideas, authentic templates, and a framework to teach, assess, and inspire rap composition and performance.

Join us to:

  • Explore the history of rap and its educational potential.
  • Learn step-by-step techniques to break down, teach, and create rap with flow and authenticity.
  • Gain tools to assess rap compositions and performances effectively.

Led by an experienced classroom teacher, composer, and performer, this session promises to revolutionise the way you approach rap in education.

Our CPD sessions are free for attendees working in Kent & Medway schools, there is a small charge for schools attending from outside of Kent and independent schools.

Kindly hosted by Fort Pitt Grammar School.
