Join us for a transformative day dedicated to enhancing the musical experiences you provide to your students, fostering progress, enthusiasm, and a lasting impact.
Highlights of the Day:
- Engaging Workshops and Interactive Discussions: Tailored content for infant, primary, secondary, and special schools.
- Keynote Speaker: Craig McLeish: Renowned freelance musician and musical director of Young Voices for the past 24 years, Craig will share his insights on composing, choral directing, orchestration, songwriting, and production.
- Full Expo and Networking Opportunities: Engage with music and education organisations and attend drop-in sessions to meet your area manager and Kent Music’s Chief Executive, Peter Bolton.
- Wellbeing and Mental Health Area: Relax and recharge with coffee and chat hosted by Dice Wood and our own Felicity Redworth.
- Complimentary Lunch, Snacks, and Drinks.
Order of the Day:
9.30-10.30am – ‘Creating a musical legacy from large-scale events’ – A keynote speech from Craig McLeish. Craig will share his insights on composing, choral directing, orchestration, songwriting, and production.
10.30am-10.59am – Welcome from Kent Music Chief Executive, Peter Bolton
11am – 2 minute silence and The Last Post
Session 1 (11:25-12:45) will include the following workshops to choose from.
- ‘Rappin’ The Classroom for KS2’ with Francis Winston (Primary focus).
- ‘Moving On Up.’ – This session will offer creative and fun ways to build confidence and engagement in singing across KS3 with Emily Barden. (Secondary focus)
- ‘How Can We Teach Music Musically?’ – This session will cover key findings and ideas from UpRising! with Sarah Share (SEND focus)
- ‘Embedding Music into your day’ – a practical workshop with Kelly Reynolds (EYFS focus)
Session 2 (13:20-14:20) will include the following workshops to choose from.
- ‘Sound Singing’ – This session will focus on developing the sound of singing in your school. It will cover strategies for unlocking the best of your children’s (and your!) voices, with Emily Barden (Primary focus).
- ‘Leading a successful department to create legacy,’ – with James Mainwaring (Secondary focus).
- ‘Songwriting in The SEND setting’ – with Nathan Tomothy (SEND focus).
Session 3 (14:40-15:40) will include the following workshops to choose from.
- ‘Samba!’ – with Mike Simpson (Primary focus).
- ‘Being the entrepreneur in your department’ – with James Mainwaring (Secondary focus).
- ‘The Lau Lau Songdrawing Technique’ – with Stephanie Warrender (SEND and Inclusion focus).
- ‘Wellbeing and Workload’ – This session looks at wellbeing and mental health management and offers hints and tips from the chalkface, with Dice Wood.
Ticket Information:
- Free for teachers from schools in Kent and Medway.
- £50 for teachers from schools outside Kent and Medway or independent schools.
