Drum Teacher – Salaried

Become part of our dynamic team as a peripatetic Drum teacher.  You’ll enjoy diverse teaching opportunities across a range of settings on our team. Your role will encompass whole class instrumental tuition, ensemble leading, small groups, and individual tuition. Based primarily in the Ashford area at the Ashford Music Centre on Wednesday evenings, there is also potential for expansion into schools in the surrounding areas. Non-Teaching Vacancies

Music Hub Administrator

£22,050 pro rata, per annum
Full time, 37 hours per week
Permanent

We are looking for somebody to join our Hub team based in our head office in Ashford. This person will be working directly with other team members to support our hub programmes.

From September 2024 the area covered by the Music Hub will increase to include Medway and this role will provide the first point of contact for schools in Kent and Medway, providing support and information.

At Kent Music we offer some hybrid working, allowing our staff members the choice of home working opportunities for part of their working hours.

The role will administer the schools support programme, annual funding programme for schools and annual data collection process for our main funder Arts Council England.

The role will also act as the administrator of the CPD programme including the annual schools conference which takes place in November.

Occasional attendances at events outside of office hours will be required to fully support the delivery of the CPD programme.

In addition to the administrative duties for the hub team, the role will support the communications manager by coordinating social media accounts, newsletter and website updates, ensuring the content is up to date.

Music Resources Assistant

£22,050 pro rata, per annum

We are looking for somebody to join our Music Resources team based in our head office in Ashford. The Music Resources Assistant has responsibility for carrying out administration relating to the hiring of instruments, and the delivery/collection of Kent Music’s instrument stock.

To comply with mandatory insurance requirements, those driving Kent Music vehicles must be aged 25 or over.

This role supports the Music Resources Manager, ensuring stock and hire records are accurately maintained and instruments are catalogued and labelled correctly. The Music Resources Assistant may be required to carry out some preparation of instruments, under the supervision of the Music Resources Technicians/Manager.

The role requires some driving, and the Music Resources Assistant must ensure that all instrument deliveries and collections are carried out professionally and efficiently, including the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.

Trustee Vacancies

The Board of Kent Music is looking to recruit new trustees.

Kent Music has recently been invited by Arts Council England to lead the new Kent & Medway Music Hub and is seeking passionate individuals to help guide it through this exciting new phase.

As we expand our role to cover Medway, we are particularly keen to attract applicants who live in and/or are involved in music or community activities in Medway.

We are seeking one youth trustee, a treasurer and two additional trustees. As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to bring your expertise, experience, and enthusiasm to the Board, helping us to make a real difference to the music education of all our learners.

Treasurer

The treasurer will support the chief executive and accountant. They will chair the executive committee which scrutinises financial information, particularly budgets, management accounts and final accounts.

The treasure will chair the audit committee once a year when draft audited accounts are presented by the external auditor.

Youth Trustee

The Board has two places reserved for trustees between the ages of 18 and 25. The trustees believe that it is crucial to include people on the Board who belong to the age group of the beneficiaries of the charity.

Kent Music views membership of the Board as an opportunity for the organisation to gain the insights of young people and to provide an important learning experience for young trustees. Members of the leadership team will be assigned to each young trustee to develop their understanding of the role.

  • at least one trustee currently employed by a school, ideally in a leadership position and able to demonstrate their commitment to excellence in music within their school
  • a communications professional to help us raise the profile of the Kent & Medway Music Hub and our work so that we can build on the work of the last 75+ years.
  • at least one trustee with expertise in safeguarding who can work with our safeguarding lead to ensure that all the activities provided by Kent Music and the wider Music Hub are safe for those participating.
