Vicky Starling

Brass

Teaches:
Trombone , Trumpet

About 15 years ago I started learning the trombone with Kent music as a primary school student. Since then I've performed across London and Europe, at the Edinburgh Fringe and continue to be involved with a range of jazz and classical groups in Maidstone.

Following three years as a junior student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, I studied music at Cambridge University where I developed experience within orchestral and musical theatre contexts. While there I discovered that I loved working with young people, so took to working with a number of youth charities including the Young Lives Foundation and Family Trust.

I'm a strong believer in letting the student guide our lessons. I'm all for learning your favourite song and finding ways to teach technique in the process. Learning an instrument is all about falling a little more in love with music every day, so fun is absolutely key. This can be a little unconventional, as I don't push my students towards exams unless they want to take them but if you do, it's all support from here.

A fair warning to parents, though - I encourage my students to be LOUD!
