We believe a school’s musical offer should be designed to suit the needs of your children and young people, this is why we offer a range of opportunities for specialist consultancy.
We can work with schools to implement areas of the National Plan for Music Education and other guidance such as Model Music Curriculum.
We have worked with several schools to improve their provision and are excited to work with schools in a bespoke way to help them develop music in line with their vision for the school.
We are excited to offer three packages designed to support with developing your intent for music, skills mapping, curriculum development and design as well as whole staff training opportunities to upskill your team!
All of our Specialist Consultancy Packages are available either through Funded Opportunities, or for your school to buy in.
Staff Training Package
If you are looking for ways to support and inspire your entire teaching team, then our Staff Training Package might be just the thing for you.
This package allows your whole school teaching team to benefit from three CPD sessions delivered by a member of the Kent Music Team. An initial planning meeting will take place involving your music lead/SLT and one of our specialists. Here you will be able to discuss your school’s aims, and choose which training you would like your team to receive. Our specialist will then deliver three CPD sessions, each one lasting 1.5 hours. Our CPD sessions are carefully designed to equip your teachers with a range of hands-on activities that can be taken straight into the classroom.
After completing your whole staff CPD sessions, our specialist will visit for a follow up meeting to discuss your school’s next steps and to support you with your Music Development Plan.

Curriculum Consultancy Package
Our Curriculum Consultancy Package will provide you with a member of our team, who will support you across the whole academic year. This package involves one session with a Kent Music Specialist each term.
You will begin with a planning meeting the Autumn Term to discuss how the music curriculum is delivered in your school; and to identify your key aims for the year. You will also have the opportunity to begin creating your Music Development Plan with the support of one of our specialists.
Throughout the year you will have the opportunity to receive hands-on support with creating your vision and intent, curriculum design, staff training and more.

Health Check Service
We also provide a Health Check Service that reviews the music making in your school and provides you with a personalised report and next steps on the journey to continuing your musical journey!
As part of the service, a member of our team will visit your school for a day to see music taking place in a range of contexts.
This will include:
- Lesson Visits
- An interview with music lead
- Student Panel
- Staff Interviews
- A meeting with SLT
All of the information gathered during the health check will be used to provide you with a written report on what the strengths were in the school and where you could consider going next with your plans for music.

How frequently can we meet?
We tailor our consultancy services to your needs. In our initial scoping meeting we will discuss together how frequently meetings may be required as well as discussing whether the meetings will be in person or virtual.
Our staff are non-specialist teachers delivering music, can you train them?
We include a free meeting as part of our staff training option to ensure we meet the needs of the school. We may ask for an audit to be completed in advance to inform the planning for the session too. These sessions are always practical and will provide creative approaches to delivering the music curriculum.
I am music lead in a special school, are you able to support us?
Yes! We have worked with many special schools to design a curriculum that is flexible and meets the needs of their pupils.
