Piano, Voice, Music Technology
I am an enthusiastic teacher who loves working with young people of all ages and watching them develop and progress in their musical journeys. I like to approach lessons in a fun, friendly, non threatening way and to include plenty of varied activities so that lessons are enjoyable, relaxed, and nurture a love for learning.
I have been teaching music for many decades and spent most of those years teaching in schools, finally as Director of Music and Expressive Arts Faculty in a Grammar School for 16 years. My training was through a BEd in Teaching, an MA in Expressive Arts in Education and an LTCL. My peripatetic teaching in Voice and Piano has been a most rewarding and enjoyable further episode in my career.
I like to keep up to date with any new ideas and approaches to learning by talking to other music specialists, research and training sessions.
I still perform myself and enjoy participating in Choirs in a variety of venues and in different genres of music. I feel that music feeds the soul and gives us so much more than we realise. It builds confidence and team work in young people and helps them to become very special adults.
